The Adidas “Samba Primeknit” is the first football boot that features an upper knitted from heel to toe.

Adidas unveil their football boot of the future – a knitted one!

The shoe is a “bespoke second-skin fit that combines the responsiveness of playing barefoot with the stability and strength of a conventional football boot”. On the technical side, you can note that the threads used to build the shoes feature a special coating that ensures a specific water-resistance necessary on the sport field.

Markus Baumann, senior vice president for global football at Adidas explains : “Primeknit is a technology that is right at the heart of adidas innovation and we’re excited about introducing this development into football, by producing the world’s first knitted football boot we have provided a brand new solution to the search for higher levels of comfort and flexibility.”

Less waste and more sustainable

Because of the particularity of its construction, the Samba Primeknit is also said to be Adidas’s most sustainable football boot. Since the upper is constructed in one-piece without any fabric cut, there is no wastage of material.
