A new idea is born about the interaction we can have with our garments and with other people…
Especially the ones we love.
Drew Stanley, a New York based product and fashion designer bring this new style called Touchables. The entire collection invite interaction and gets people to get closer and touch each other.
The “Coupling Shirts” are sweatshirts that have slit pockets in areas that couples normally lay their hands when together, as the other part of the collection feature laser-cut hole-pattern T-Shirts, that “is meant to simulate the feelings that bodies make on each other during contact.”
The sensory response to touch makes experiences more memorable
“Touch is an important part of building relationships” says Drew, “As the world gets more
wired with digital outlets of communication, opportunities for face-to-face
experiences and relational interactions are in danger”.
Wearable Invitations to Touch
These concepts are a statement on Design’s potential to play a pivotal role in creating scenarios that encourage and nurture physical connection amongst humans; understanding that these moments of physical comfort and intimacy teach some of life’s most valuable assets like empathy, rapport and altruism.
Touchables are part of an ongoing study on intimacy from Drew Stanley.
Still a prototype the collection isn’t available for purchase yet.
